Fast-tracking a Circular Economy in the EU

A number of key initiatives and actions have been put forward since the adoption of the Circular Economy Package. The recently revised legislative framework for waste that includes new targets for waste management and recycling, the EU Strategy for Plastics, the Single-use plastics Directive and the circular economy monitoring framework are some important examples.
In the wake of these developments in the EU policy landscape, a number of member states have also adopted strategies and government-wide programmes for a circular economy. Despite these advancements in EU and national level policy, achieving a large-scale industrial ‘circular’ transformation is by no means an easy task and there are multiple challenges that need to be resolved in the coming years. With a new five-year policy cycle on the horizon, this conference will take stock of actions on advancing a circular economy and discuss priorities for the new Commission and European Parliament.

The event is co-organised by CEPS and GLOBE EU.
