Paolo Natali is an expert in energy markets, and currently works as an originator at Eni Trading & Shipping. In the past he has been a strategy advisor for Statoil, and served in the public sector at the World Bank, the Council of the European Union, and NATO. He has published on topics related to natural gas, electricity and energy policy, and has been a fellow of the Transatlantic Academy in 2012. At Sciences Po, he teaches the courses Network Energies and Energy Security. He was educated at the University of Bologna (BA), Johns Hopkins SAIS (MA), and received his Ph.D. in economic history from the University of Cambridge. He divides his time between London, Houston, and Paris; the determination of his whereabouts is often a matter of quantum theory.
